One of the biggest challanges for a web designer is to ensure the web design is compatible acorss a number of browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, chrome, Opera and more.
Microsoft Internet Explorer can be the cause of alot of issues due to the fact that users ( web site visitors ) may be using different versions of the browser for example IE6, IE7 and IE8.
IE6 is slowly getting phased out but a number of corporate users may still be using this version of the browser.
Each version of the Microsoft browser renders the design in a different way and web designers are required to include CSS hacks, PNG transparency fixes in order to work around the problems.
To avoid installing multiple versions of the brwoser on one machine why not try IE tester which is designed to test and debug different versions of Internet Explorer using a single interface.
You don't need to install mutliple versions of the browser and it supports all versions of IE, plus its free to download and use.
To install and use the IE Tester software complete the following
- Download and install the IE Tester Software
- Open the applcation and you will see a number of icons where you can open the different versions of IE including IE 5.5, 6, 7, 8
3. If you want to just test the design in IE6 slect the IE6 icon and enter the URL of the web site you wish to test.
4. If you wish to test the design in IE 6, 7 and 8 again just select the icon and a new window will open where you can enter the URL to view and test site web site.
5. You can also test the design across multiple versions of the browser by clicking on the ALL IE Versions icon.
